Recently, my scripture writing was out of Colossians 1:9-14. As I was writing it and later reflecting on this passage, thoughts came like the glow of lightning bugs, as the Holy Spirit began teaching me. When I gleaned all I could, I decided to make a simple study. This study is based on the New International Version translation. You would glean even more if you use a study Bible.
Pondering the recent events in the United States made me think about clinging to my identity in Christ. As a follower of Jesus, even when I learn of the problems in our nation, I still have peace. That’s because my identity is in Christ and not dependent on outward circumstances. I see a world locked down in sin, but I am free in Christ. Followers of Jesus look at events in the nation and the world with the clarity of Scripture. Let the events you observe motivate you to run your race believing you’ll be first over the finish line!
As you ponder this passage, please put your name into this passage to personalize it. As you bask in this passage, pray for our nation, pray for yourself to walk worthy of this Gospel, and live free in Christ. Pray for the lost and pray for our leaders. And remember, God is in control of all of history.
There are Christians in other nations who have very few of the freedoms we know here in America, yet they are free. That’s because Christ is the one who gives freedom. No geographic barriers can stop His love from entering the human heart, and once He lives in you, you are free no matter where you live.
