Years ago, I thought December was supposed to be hectic. But somewhere along the way, I decided to focus more on Jesus’ birth rather than what the world had to offer in parties, shopping, hosting, and overeating. Jesus defines the holiday season, and He is more about rest than expectations. So I can still participate in church activities and family gatherings, and enjoy gorgeous decor in malls and on houses, but I keep my focus on the reason He came.
As you live each day of the Christmas season, I hope you remember to keep up your biblical practices. Having the morning quiet time is a lifelong habit. And it starts your day with an attitude of finding rest in Jesus. It is rest because you agree with His Spirit inside you to be at peace and learn from Him. I wrote about an idea for bible reading during December here https://valerierumfelt.com/?p=14098
Any scriptures you read can be written. Then pray them in thanks. You can even draw pictures or write a poem about what you imagine based on the scripture.
If you happen to have a full calendar of events, make time to learn from Jesus. As the graphic above states, He is our rest.
If you feel burdened and worn out already, go to Him in prayer. Your blood pressure will return to normal, and your neck muscles will relax. He is good for our weary souls.
If you are lonely, then learn about the birth of Jesus. The twists and turns that happened in the story of getting Him here and keeping Him safe go beyond your children’s Sunday School class. As you research His story, you will sense His presence and feel His peace.
Lastly, I believe the scripture graphic above carries essential meaning, and you will find treasure if you explore it. God desires for you to turn to Him in all things.
During the season, my prayer for all my readers is that you take extra time during each day to sit with Him. As you honor Him with your time, He multiplies it.
Remember to let Him give you rest. It is an unspeakable gift that He is ready to offer you, even during the Christmas season.

Yes,Enny, keep praying for me to be inspired. I love that I can choose to spend time with Him anytime. I can pray or write scripture, or sit and read the Bible and more. Those choices give me spiritual rest in Him~
