Hello readers,
It’s time for the Word For the Year. Last year, my word here https://valerierumfelt.com/2024/01/07/word-for-the-year/ meant so much to me. It was not a daily occurrence, but at significant moments, that word came to life. I noticed when “the God who sees” saw me.
For 2025, I have selected the word, “connection”. Why? Because my husband and I are in a big transition. We are clinging to our connection with Jesus to discern His next assignment. The word “connection” seems appropriate.

Connection was one of Jesus’ examples to us. He showed it by how He treated others. When He had compassion for every person He healed, He established connection. Every time He met people and ate at their table, He connected. He sat down with needy people and shared everything He knew to help them. That was connection.
I think He connected with women because many longed to serve in His ministry and supported Him. Jesus welcomed conversations with beggars. And grown men accepted His invitation to join Him in His work. That is connection. He came to die for your sin and mine. Your choice and mine to receive His free gift of salvation is genuine connection.
So as we enter 2025, remember His plan is the best. He knows it, even if you don’t. The best way I know of to keep my relationship with Him vital and strong is daily connection. John chapter 15 uses the words abide or remain. My desire for 2025 is to abide and remain connected to Jesus.
