Do you need a simple list of your personal theology regarding God, Jesus, and the Bible? Years ago, I worked with children who had no church experience. Teaching them sharpened my faith as I sought ways to reach them with foundational, biblical truth.

I needed to teach familiar Bible stories that I’d known all my life with simple theology.

One day, the Holy Spirit answered my dilemma by giving me Truth Statements. Now I had the answer and a plan for introducing these truths to the children in Sunday School each week. After going over the statements, we played games that encouraged the children to learn the truths and the related Scripture.

I pray they were written in their hearts. Even more, I pray the scripture that proves each statement is etched inside them.

Though straight from the Bible, the list is simple and easy to understand. It puts what most Christians already know into words.

Below are the Truth Statements and the Bible verse that supports the Truth.

    Truth Statements

• Jesus is God.  John 1:1

• All the Bible is true.  John 17:17

• Jesus never sinned.  Hebrews 4:15

• The Bible is God’s Word.  Psalm 119:11

• All Scripture is God-breathed.  2 Timothy 3:16 & 17

• Jesus is God’s Son.  John 3:16

• Jesus never changes.  Hebrews 13:8

• The Word of God is alive and active.  Hebrews 4:12

HOW TO USE THE TRUTH STATEMENTS:

• Memorize them yourself.

• Teach them in a one on one discipleship settings.

• Use them in church classes.

• Go over them with your children or grandchildren.

• Give them to a new Christian and guide them to understand each statement. 

• Start a small group and go over a Truth each week and add more scripture for each statement. If you have other ideas, please share in a comment!
