It’s the day after Christmas. Is your spirit deflated? Exhausted? Sometimes we carry high expectations into Christmas. Or did your problems find solutions, and all things seemed merry and bright?

If you find yourself with introspection after your gatherings, or lack of gatherings, let me inspire you to use your time wisely in the last week of 2025.
The temptation for the last week of the year can be to autopilot.
But don’t.
The week in between the years can be wasted or worthwhile. Make sure that the week works to your advantage.
Resist dwelling on unmet needs, bad memories, disappointment in yourself and others, and so forth. If you are loaded up with lots of negative impacts, then give your brain a break. But not the bag of chips and sad movies kind.
We are traveling now and I’ve chosen to pull a set of truth cards from a bag. As I meditate on the statements and Bible verses I know God’s grace and am comforted by His presence. He never changes.
But I still need a plan. I can’t drift. Autopilot is not a plan; no room for self-pity. I need to manually guide my mind to truth and let God’s grace minister to me as I remind myself of His plan for me.
If you need a target, I have a few ideas for the next week. See if any of these are helpful for you.
13 Productive Actions for the Week Between Christmas and the New Year
- Keep the biblical discipline of daily Bible reading and prayer.
- Research your plan for your 2026 Morning Quiet Time. I think I’m going to read the Bible in a Year again. I used The Bible Recap in 2024. This year I did a variety of activities for my quiet time. Recently, I learned that YouVersion has several Bible reading plans that I’m researching now.
- Get notebooks, pens, study books, or apps you need to be ready for your time with the Lord.
- Dust off your Truth cards and remind yourself again –https://valerierumfelt.com/2024/06/17/project-transformation/
- Keep exercising or start. Make caring for your body a practiced lifestyle, not a resolution.
- Set a timer for 15 minutes and organize a space where you live. Clean up a space. Do one thing at a time. Finish it.
- Service your vehicle if needed.
- Catch up on your tithe at church. Begin praying about serving in one way in your local church.
- Get rid of unused clothes and junk. Return anything you borrowed during the year.
- Clear your phone of unused apps. Check subscriptions and stop any you don’t use.
- Clean up your devices of unused files, music, and downloads. Change passwords.
- Delete dangerous and unhealthy phone contacts.
- Deal with your debts. Get a plan for your finances.
In between, if you’re off from work, watch uplifting movies, send an encouraging note, weed a garden, do chores and more.
Let’s make the effort to trust the Lord with the future, worship Him, and be intentional with our time in the week to come.
Let’s get ready for 2026~
