The Power of Morning Quiet Time(audio)

Are you still putting off starting a morning quiet time with the Lord? Or maybe you started, but you didn’t persevere, or something got you off track. If you want to begin the practice, or need encouragement to start again, then my article will help you understand the power of the morning quiet time. One habit can transform your life. And I can testify that all the other good habits in my life flow from this one.

After one becomes a Christian, part of the expected discipleship and sanctification is a habit of intentional, quiet time with the Lord. After all, the goal of the Christian is to increasingly become more like Jesus! The truth is, we become like the One we spend time with.

The most successful Christians throughout my earthly history adopted mornings for this special time, and testify to their happiness with the choice. They led or lead busy, purposeful lives, and that’s the reason they made quiet time part of their morning. Sunday school teachers, my pastor, my husband and other family and friends testify to the practice of morning quiet time. And historical figures like Amy Carmichael, Corrie Ten Boom, Billy Graham thought the practice important. These saints all are examples to me.

Verses to consider:

Increased trust and dependence on the Lord~

*In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3

*Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8

David knew the love of God and though he sinned, he experienced God’s Mercy~

For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5

The morning is such a critical time to hear from the Lord.

We wait to receive God’s mercy~

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:14

Morning quiet time supernaturally makes us cheerful, light-hearted, and glad.

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 59:16

Here we know Jesus woke and made an intentional choice to go pray in solitude:

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35

What season are you in? Are you wondering about God’s plans for you? Do you have many emotions and little direction? Whatever is happening, I can testify that having a morning quiet time is a place of stability, safety, and strength for each new day.

Let us remain faithful to this biblical practice and disciple others to adapt it for themselves. If you’re just starting, I’ve included an article below to give you ideas. You do not have to use everything in the article. Make it your own and add more later.

If you have a morning quiet time, would you encourage others with a comment?
